Mamma Mia! is the exciting and creative musical interpretation of ABBA's 1975 hit song, Mamma Mia. Although completely fictional, the story line is a compelling journey of 20 year old Sophie, a Greek girl, anticipating her wedding to Sky, her fiancée. Sophie has never known who her father was, but she wants to find out so that he can walk her down the aisle.
Sophie steals her mothers' old diary and reads the intimate details of three of her mothers past lovers. She decides her father must be one of them, and invites all three to her wedding. The resulting fiasco is a stirring of painful memories for her mother, as well as beautiful ones, while Sophie must deal with the three very different men who were once an important part of her mother's life.
Mamma Mia!'s first toured with the West End in 1999 and swiftly made it to Broadway in 2001. The play has been so popular that English, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish, and Korean cast albums have been released. In 2000 and 2002, Mamma Mia! earned multiple Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, and Theatre World nominations, winning the Olivier Best Supporting Performances for Jenny Galloway's role as Rosie, as well as the Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Actress and Featured Actress in a Musical.
Come watch as the vivid imagination of British writer Catherine Johnson unfolds into the exciting life of Sophie and Donna, as they take each other on a journey to rediscover what matters most in life and even what does not.
