The Once
The Los Angeles Pantages Theater finally let us all know what the 2014 season holds! As a part of their excellent lineup of Broadway shows, the Pantages Theater is now hosting the hit musical Once. Once made its 2011 premier in an Off-Broadway production before reaching Broadway in 2012. Once is about Guy, a man in a bar who sings of unrequited love. Listening to his ballad, a young Czech woman wants to know the backstory behind his music. He tells her that he wrote them for his girlfriend who broke up with him and moved away. He wants to leave music behind him because the music stirs in him too much pain from the breakup. Now he is a vacuum repair man. They then sing a song together called falling slowly. She tells Guy he can win his girlfriend back with that song. The girl converses with Guy's father while he repairs her vacuum. Once done he invites her to his room above the shop where he tries to kiss her. The girl declines but the two embark on an adventure of writing and singing music. The story of Once is a bit tragic as we watch the story of an unusual connection, an unusual love, and an unusual attachment unfold. As the premise of the movie is about this girl encouraging Guy to get his ex girlfriend back, we see the young Czech girl fall for Guy. Now you can catch this moving and relatable play. The Czech girl helped Guy heal his heart and ultimately win back his ex. However, it is to the detriment of her own heart. The stunning play has beautiful music and audiences would agree the song Falling Slowly would entice anyone to come back following a breakup. Now you can see this beautiful story when you order your Pantages Theater "Once Tickets" today! By: Danielle Kelly
